Spring Recruitment will take place February 11th-17th, 2023!
What is Formal Recruitment?
Formal Recruitment is a week-long process that
helps place each Potential New Member into the sorority that best fits her.
There is a designated schedule for this process.
You must register for formal recruitment in order to participate.
If you are unable to attend some of recruitment because of class, there is an excuse form which
you will fill out during orientation so you will be exempt from participation during the time of your class.
However, if an event is missed without an excuse, you will not be able to participate
in the rest of recruitment and may not be able to join a sorority.
Greek 101
Greek 101 is a non-mandatory "orientation," hosted by the University
that you can attend to learn more about the formal recruitment process.
This year, Greek 101 will be held on January 20th, 2022!
The National Panhellenic Conference will also be hosting an informational session on January 28th!
Orientation
You will go to orientation, where you will meet your Rho Gamma group.
A Rho Gamma group is a group of Potential New Members that you will go through recruitment with.
Each group will be led by recruitment counselors called Rho Gammas.
These leaders are current UNH Panhellenic sorority women, and their affiliations are kept secret.
Rho Gammas are with you throughout the entire recruitment process
to offer unbiased advice and help you through it.
During orientation, you will receive more detailed information about the recruitment process.
First Round
After Orientation, the next day starts First Rounds of Recruitment where sororities
will inform you about their sisterhood.
You will meet you Rho Gammas at a designated location on campus,
where they will tell you the schedule for the day.
You will visit all four sororities during this round.
Second Round
The next day will start the Second Rounds of Recruitment where sororities
will inform you about their philanthropies.
You will again meet with your Rho Gammas and
receive the schedule with which sororities you will be visiting.
Preference Night
Following Second Rounds is the final night of formal recruitment; Preference Night.
This is the most special night of recruitment, where chapters will show you
a unique glimpse at an important part of their organization.
After your last party, you will rank the sororities that you visited in order of preference,
with your number one choice being the chapter you wish to join.
Bid Day
The day after Preference Night is Bid Day.
If extended an offer to join an organization, you will meet your Rho Gamma and receive
an envelope with your bid card, or invitation to join a sorority, sealed inside.
Your group will gather with the other Rho Gamma groups to open envelopes and
discover which sorority has extended an invitation for membership to you.
After you open your bid, you will join your new sorority and fellow new members
as you walk to your sorority's specific location for pictures, fun, and food.
